Job Overview
Join the AWS In-Memory Databases team in developing groundbreaking in-memory database services that power high-performance, low-latency NoSQL applications. The role focuses on innovative solutions involving technologies like Valkey, Redis OSS, and Memcached to help customers build or enhance data-intensive applications.
About the Team and Culture

Though primarily based in Dublin, occasional remote work is supported. Core office hours are typically from 10am to 4pm, offering flexibility around these times.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop backend systems for next-generation in-memory database services.
- Build scalable, distributed, and highly available database solutions with sub-millisecond latency.
- Engage in proactive problem-solving, ensuring system reliability and operational excellence with periodic on-call duties.
- Work collaboratively within a diverse engineering team, contributing through code reviews, design discussions, and mentorship.
- Adapt projects based on individual expertise while encouraging continuous learning and skill growth.
Qualifications
- Professional experience in software development (beyond internship level).
- Strong background in designing or architecting systems focusing on design patterns, scalability, and reliability.
- Proficiency in at least one software programming language.
- Preferably, a bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent field.
- Experience throughout the software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operational support.

The position involves periodic daytime on-call responsibilities (approximately once every 2-3 months), with an emphasis on avoiding night or weekend alerts by systematically addressing operational issues.
