Role Overview

As a Software Developer, you will be instrumental in building and advancing the software that powers One NZ’s Cloud Applications platforms. Your responsibilities span the full software lifecycle, from translating ideas and requirements into high-quality, secure, and scalable solutions to deploying and maintaining them in production using modern development methods enhanced by AI and automation.

Responsibilities

• Architect, code, test, and maintain software components for Cloud Applications platforms.
• Develop new features, improve existing ones, and fix defects adhering to agreed quality standards.
• Manage software development activities from initial requirements and design through production deployment.
• Ensure software security, maintainability, and robustness through thorough testing, peer code reviews, logging, and detailed documentation.
• Diagnose and resolve bugs and operational issues with comprehensive root cause analysis.
• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including Developers, DevOps, QA, technical leaders, and other stakeholders to deliver optimal solutions.
• Promote and contribute to continuous enhancement of development practices, including automation and CI/CD pipelines.
• Leverage AI technologies, automation, and modern toolsets to enhance software quality, testing, productivity, and delivery efficiency.

Requirements

• Demonstrated solid expertise in software development and current best practices.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Go, Python, and SQL.
• Experience working with cloud-native software, particularly in building APIs and integrating systems.
• Knowledge of automated testing methodologies, version control, and continuous integration/deployment processes.
• Awareness of secure coding standards and software quality assurance principles.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
• Strong sense of ownership alongside effective communication and collaboration skills with both technical and business teams.
• Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools for automated coding, analysis, monitoring, or reporting tasks.
• Ability to incorporate AI to boost productivity, validate data, and optimize operations.
• Keen to identify and implement automation opportunities that reduce manual, repetitive workflows.
