Role Overview

As a Unix OpenShift DevOps Specialist, you will play a pivotal technical leadership role within One NZ's Private Infrastructure environment. You will be primarily responsible for managing and enhancing our Private Cloud OpenShift platforms, spanning IT and Network workloads, from build through to operation. Your expertise in automation tools like Ansible Automation and proficiency in OpenShift and Kubernetes will drive the development of DevOps capabilities across both onshore and offshore teams. Your work will be critical in developing highly reliable, resilient, and efficient infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and sustain Private Cloud platforms including Red Hat OpenShift, Ansible Automation, and OpenShift Virtualisation.
• Implement automation for OpenShift clusters and related technologies, including automated cluster builds and hardware configurations.
• Act as a champion for Ansible Automation and encourage its adoption across the IT community.
• Provide technical leadership by mentoring Unix engineers both onshore and offshore, fostering continual knowledge sharing.
• Proactively manage virtual and physical Unix environments to ensure platform availability and stability.
• Offer technical insights for the future design of server-based operating environments.
• Collaborate closely with project teams to guide and influence technical design strategies.
• Support technology projects to meet established timelines, budget constraints, and quality standards.

Candidate Profile

• A minimum of 10 years’ experience working with Unix operating systems or a relevant tertiary qualification.
• Demonstrated expertise in Red Hat technologies, including RHEL, OpenShift, Ansible, and Virtualisation.
• Strong capabilities in OpenShift and Kubernetes complemented by an automation-centric approach.
• Experience with programming and scripting languages, particularly YAML.
• Possession of Red Hat OpenShift certifications is advantageous.
• Proven technical leadership skills with experience coaching and mentoring high-performing teams.
• Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively to align with business goals.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, capable of building and maintaining strong internal and external relationships.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, coupled with keen attention to detail and quality.
