Job description
Overview
Join Sandvik Rock Processing Solutions in Ballygawley, Northern Ireland, as a Shot Blaster within our coating shed. This key role focuses on preparing surfaces of components before powder coating to ensure high-quality and durable finishes on our crushing and screening equipment, contributing to manufacturing excellence.
Primary Duties
- Operate shot blasting equipment to prepare parts and assemblies adhering to SA2.5 standards and perform visual inspections.
- Safely and efficiently prepare components for coating by operating required machinery.
- Ensure surfaces are properly filled, sanded, and smoothed to facilitate powder coating adhesion.
- Handle loading and unloading of components using approved equipment within the coating shed.
- Detect and report any surface defects prior to coating.
- Perform routine checks and basic maintenance on equipment.
- Strictly follow Health & Safety, environmental policies, and Sandvik's quality standards.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with shot blasting, surface preparation, or similar industrial environments.
- Strong awareness of safe working practices in manufacturing settings.
- Capable of safely performing manual handling tasks.
- Keen attention to detail and quality assurance.
- Able to contribute effectively as a team member.
Desirable Skills & Qualifications
- Previous work experience in coating sheds or powder coating facilities.
- Knowledge of steel surface preparation standards.
- Forklift truck or overhead crane certification is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices.
Work Environment & Schedule
- This is an on-site position located in Ballygawley's coating shed and manufacturing area.
- Working hours total 40 hours per week: Monday through Thursday from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, and Friday from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm.
