Job description
Position Overview
The Shift Lead plays a vital role in managing store operations during the absence of store management by opening and closing the store, handling cash, and preparing the sales floor and stockroom for daily business activities. This position requires managing deliveries, customer interactions, and ensuring excellent store conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform store opening and closing procedures, including system startups, cash handling, and readiness of floor and stock areas.
- Manage the receiving of deliveries by opening the back door for vendors.
- Process product returns, order voids, refunds, cash drops, and provide change as needed for registers.
- Engage and assist customers and patients by greeting them, answering inquiries, and resolving issues to maintain a positive service environment.
- Demonstrate and encourage top-tier customer service behaviors among team members, including proactive assistance and meeting customer needs until satisfaction.
- Hold and use store keys to open and close the premises when management is unavailable.
- Support and guide team members in vendor ordering and warehouse processes, including order creation, review, and receipt.
- Be accountable for all sales transactions on assigned cash registers, including managing scanning errors, price checks, and voids.
- Help review order exceptions and support reverse logistics such as returns and packaging management.
- Contribute to the development and review of product displays, including promotional, seasonal, and sale merchandising, while assisting in resets and revisions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory counts across departments, stockrooms, and overstock areas.
- Ensure compliance with food safety and stock rotation protocols, including separation of raw and cooked foods and following first-in-first-out methods.
- Perform daily pricing duties and ensure signage accuracy aligned with local regulations and compliance requirements.
- Assist with bookkeeping tasks such as cash reports, ledgers, cash counts, and bill payments as necessary.
- Help maintain store cleanliness and order, including requesting repairs and upkeep in management's absence.
- Offer assistance at the Pharmacy out window when requested.
- Ensure compliance with laws governing regulated products like alcohol and tobacco.
- Conduct bag checks on staff before they leave the store.
- Adhere to all company policies and foster respectful workplace relationships.
- Complete assigned special projects as directed.
Training and Communication
- Participate in training sessions and complete required professional development programs.
- Act as a communication link between management and staff, conveying tasks and reporting disciplinary or customer service concerns when management is absent.
Qualifications
- Minimum one year of leadership, supervisory, or retail key holder experience.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
- Preferably knowledgeable in inventory control processes.
- Applicants with arrest and conviction records will be considered.
- As applicable, obtain and maintain valid PTCB certification or pharmacy license per state requirements.
Compensation and Equal Opportunity
