About the Role
Our client, a prominent Main Contractor in Ireland with numerous ongoing and upcoming projects spanning residential, commercial, and student accommodation sectors, seeks an experienced SHEQ Advisor to join their Limerick-based team. This vital role supports the delivery of projects by ensuring rigorous adherence to Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) standards throughout all stages.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide practical assistance to project management teams in executing SHEQ systems on-site.
- Develop and maintain essential SHEQ documentation, including method statements, risk assessments, health and safety plans, environmental management plans, and quality plans.
- Evaluate subcontractors' method statements and risk assessments to verify compliance with legal requirements and internal policies.
- Conduct frequent site inspections and audits, promptly addressing and resolving non-conformance issues.
- Track and report SHEQ performance metrics to senior leadership.
- Participate in SHEQ meetings and help formulate action plans aimed at continuous improvement.
- Keep thorough records, statistics, and reports related to SHEQ activities.
- Collaborate with site personnel, subcontractors, and internal teams to promote best practices in SHEQ.
- Support initiatives fostering a positive safety culture within the organization.
Candidate Requirements
- Prior experience in SHEQ, Health & Safety, or Environmental roles within the construction sector.
- Sound knowledge of Irish health and safety laws and site compliance standards.
- Proficiency in creating and reviewing risk assessments and method statements.
- Strong organizational and communication abilities.
- Team-oriented with the capacity to work effectively alongside project teams and subcontractors.
- Attention to detail coupled with solid problem-solving skills.
- Experience using Microsoft Office and SHEQ-specific reporting tools.
- Desirable: Certification in Health & Safety such as NEBOSH, IOSH, Diploma, or equivalent.
