About the Role
Join the Tauranga City Council Digital Services team as a Service Desk Support member, where you'll be frontline help for staff needing assistance with technology. This opportunity is ideal for individuals who love helping others, enjoy problem-solving, and want to make tech more accessible. No advanced technical knowledge is required initially, but being curious, eager to learn, and able to communicate clearly with people from different backgrounds is essential.
You will provide friendly, first-level IT support through in-person interactions, phone, and email. Your duties include troubleshooting common software, hardware, and system issues and ensuring users receive timely and appropriate help. Collaborating with the broader Digital Services team will keep issues moving forward as you grow your technical expertise.
Responsibilities
- Offer approachable and effective first-line IT support to staff throughout the council.
- Communicate with staff via face-to-face, phone calls, and email to identify and address their support needs.
- Troubleshoot typical hardware, software, and system problems that arise.
- Translate technical details into clear, understandable explanations for users.
- Collaborate with the wider Digital Services team to resolve issues expediently.
- Develop your technical skills by tackling a broad range of systems and user scenarios.
What You'll Need to Succeed

- Effective and confident communication capabilities across different mediums.
- Patience, curiosity, and practical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to quickly learn new systems and grasp technical concepts.
