About the Role
This newly created position within Tauranga City Council’s Media Relations & Corporate Communications team is designed to enhance the Communications & Engagement function. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on, imaginative Content Producer with a knack for discovering compelling stories and bringing them to life with a human touch.
Collaborating closely with the Strategic Content Lead, the role involves narrating the stories of the city and its Council in a vibrant, relatable, and clear manner for the Tauranga community.
This role requires an active presence throughout the city rather than passive desk work—engaging with people, conducting insightful interviews, and unveiling stories that matter.
Daily tasks may vary, including filming major city initiatives, interviewing key community contributors, capturing event photography, or developing social media content that simplifies complex Council issues.
Responsibilities include end-to-end content creation—planning, interviewing, filming, photographing, writing, editing, and producing across multiple channels.
The Content Producer will work alongside various specialists and community groups to foster a robust stream of proactive content showcasing Council activities, their significance, and the people driving these projects.
Qualifications and Skills Needed
- Proven experience producing multimedia content for digital and social media platforms
- Strong videography, photography, and editing capabilities
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud or equivalent software
- Excellent storytelling, writing, and interviewing skills
- Keen attention to detail with the ability to simplify complex information
- Initiative in identifying content prospects and shaping narratives
- Experience collaborating with diverse teams, community members, or stakeholders
- Adept at managing multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholder expectations simultaneously
- A creative portfolio demonstrating content production expertise
A formal qualification in communications, journalism, media, marketing, or related fields is advantageous, though equivalent professional experience is also welcomed.
