Opportunity Overview

The Trading Systems team is responsible for the foundational order, execution, position, and risk frameworks that support OKX’s worldwide trading operations. We operate at the nexus of speed, accuracy, reliability, and scalability, where thoughtful design is pivotal.

We are looking for a Senior C++ Software Engineer to steer the architectural design and development of our trading counter and core platforms. This role requires a blend of expert systems knowledge with a strong sense of accountability: identifying root causes, elevating engineering quality throughout the lifecycle, and transforming individual insights into teamwide best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead architecture, design, and implementation of sophisticated, high-performance C++ trading platforms.
• Develop dependable distributed systems emphasizing consistency, fault tolerance, disaster recovery, and resilience.
• Manage tasks end-to-end, from proposals and design discussions to refactoring, deployment, debugging, and verification.
• Address low-level system challenges in networking, concurrency, memory management, performance, and OS behaviors.
• Enhance architecture by diagnosing systemic problems and refactoring overly coupled or monolithic designs into modular components.
• Implement preventive quality measures such as automated tests, failure simulations, monitoring, and validation through replay methodologies.
• Design controlled experiments to verify architectural hypotheses and troubleshoot complex production problems.
• Navigate cross-technology environment decisions at language, service, and platform intersections effectively.
• Independently adopt AI-assisted engineering tools for code comprehension, design, review processes, incident analysis, test validation, and knowledge management.
• Promote elevated engineering standards through careful code reviews, technical discussions, and ongoing process refinements.
• Mentor peers by sharing knowledge via documentation, playbooks, technical sessions, and reusable components.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related STEM field; equivalent practical experience welcome.
• Over 5 years of direct software engineering experience, with deep involvement in developing production-grade C++ systems.
• Proven capability in designing and evolving complex software systems with an understanding of architectural compromises.
• Advanced skills in concurrency, multithreading, network programming, and optimizing performance on Linux platforms.
• Hands-on knowledge of high-availability distributed systems, including consistency models, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery plans.
• Strong grasp of computer systems fundamentals: networking protocols, operating systems, memory/storage management, and runtime characteristics.
• Demonstrated proactive ownership from problem definition through delivery and validation of robust solutions.
• Exceptional analytical and debugging skills, with a commitment to identifying root causes rather than quick fixes.
• Experience employing automated testing, simulations, replay techniques, or comparative studies to ensure reliability.
• Clear communicative abilities combined with a cooperative attitude, capable of translating knowledge into standards and best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to financial domain technicalities such as trading exchanges, brokerage systems, order management, execution handling, or market data services.
• Experience with event-driven frameworks, messaging infrastructures, or high-throughput distributed systems.
• Familiarity with additional programming languages like Rust, Java, Go, or Python within polyglot production environments.
• Practical use of AI tools to enhance software workflow and improve code quality.
• History of working with globally distributed, cross-disciplinary engineering teams.
