Senior Work Inspector

Job Overview

In the role of Senior Work Inspector within the GEC Supervision team, your focus will be on overseeing utility infrastructure projects to ensure top-tier quality and safety standards are maintained. You will collaborate extensively with contractors, consultants, and other project participants to make sure all construction activities meet the approved plans and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and examine utility infrastructure construction to verify adherence to project specifications, contracts, and approved engineering drawings.
• Conduct frequent site inspections and monitoring, recording detailed data on progress and quality assurance practices.
• Detect and report non-compliant work, providing prompt feedback for corrective action to contractors and project personnel.
• Facilitate coordination among contractors, consultants, and stakeholders to resolve challenges, promote smooth workflow, and maintain clear communication channels.
• Assess and authorize contractors’ submissions, including method statements, safety protocols, and quality control plans.
• Perform routine safety audits ensuring strict compliance with health and safety standards on site.
• Offer technical assistance and mentorship to junior inspection staff and construction teams to encourage continuous improvement initiatives.
• Compile and deliver detailed inspection reports emphasizing significant observations, recommendations, and improvement areas.
• Participate in project meetings representing Quality Assurance aspects, providing expert advice on utility infrastructure issues.
• Keep abreast of advancements, industry best practices, and technological innovations to refine inspection methodologies.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
• At least 8 years of experience inspecting construction with emphasis on utility infrastructure projects.
• Comprehensive understanding of utility infrastructure design, construction workflows, and pertinent standards.
• Solid knowledge of health and safety laws and capability to enforce effective site safety measures.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for constructive interaction with contractors and project stakeholders.
• Experience using inspection-related tools, software, and technology for data gathering and documentation.
• Analytical approach for identifying potential issues and devising practical solutions.
• Possession of valid professional certifications like CWI, CWII, or equivalents relevant to construction inspection.
• Readiness to travel to various project locations and work under varying environmental conditions.
• Effective time management and organizational skills to prioritize workload and adhere to deadlines.
