Senior Verification Engineer - Media IP

About the Role

This senior engineering position offers a challenging opportunity to become a key part of the Arm Systems Media IP team responsible for the verification of Image Signal Processors, Display Processors, and Video codecs. These technologies are integrated within Arm Compute Subsystems and support diverse end markets such as automotive, IoT, and client devices. The team’s portfolio includes hardware descriptions (RTL), reference software drivers, tools, and libraries, enabling customers to build innovative products upon this foundation.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the verification processes of a complete Display Processing Unit (DPU) subsystem encompassing multiple components or a particularly complex unit from initial planning to final sign-off.
• Contribute to the overarching verification architecture, integration strategies, planning, and establishing metrics for quality assurance of the DPU.
• Design and develop scalable, reusable, and high-performance SystemVerilog and UVM verification environments and intellectual property.
• Create comprehensive verification plans including coverage models and define sign-off and quality objectives for the verification scope under ownership.
• Proactively identify technical and scheduling risks, implement mitigation strategies, and coordinate their resolution among multiple teams.
• Assess and review architectural and design modifications for correctness, observability, testability, performance impact, and verification complexity.
• Lead troubleshooting and resolution of intricate failures at unit, cross-unit, integration, and system levels.
• Coordinate verification efforts and interdependencies among various units, subsystems, and DPU teams.
• Drive continuous improvement in verification methodologies including automation, reuse, regression efficiency, debugging, and continuous integration practices.
• Leverage verification data insights to identify quality deficiencies, enhance bug detection, and influence engineering decision-making.
• Provide evidence-based recommendations to shape project planning and technical decisions.
• Collaborate effectively with architecture, design, software, and other engineering teams within Arm to ensure successful integration of the DPU into complete systems.

Required Skills and Experience

• Deep expertise and extensive practical coding experience with SystemVerilog and UVM, including developing complex verification architectures and conducting thorough design reviews.
• Hands-on experience with verification involving standard on-chip bus protocols such as AMBA APB and AXI or other industry-standard protocols.
• Proven ability to craft detailed verification plans from the ground up for complex IP blocks or subsystems, including strategy, stimulus control, checking, coverage targets, risk assessments, and sign-off criteria.
• Experience leading verification ownership of multi-unit subsystems or highly intricate units.
• Competence in building verification testbenches and scripting environments.
• Programming skills in Python, C, or similar standard languages.
• Familiarity with verification support tools and infrastructure such as regression management, failure triage, source control systems, and lint checking utilities.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Knowledge and experience in power-aware verification methodologies.
• Experience working with formal verification techniques.
• Exposure to verification at the IP or subsystem level.
• Contributions to the field via presentations at conferences or technical publications.
• Background in performance analysis related to verification.
• Experience collaborating with C-based reference model development.
