Job description
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated verification engineer to join the Arm Systems Media IP team. The team develops cutting-edge Image Signal Processors (ISPs), Display Processors, and Video codecs for use within Arm Compute Subsystems, serving diverse markets such as automotive, IoT, and client segments. Our IP portfolio includes RTL, reference drivers, tools, and libraries that enable customers to innovate on top of our technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage verification activities for a DPU subsystem containing multiple units, or a highly complex DPU unit, from initial planning stages through to final sign-off.
- Participate in shaping the overall DPU verification architecture, planning, integration strategy, and criteria for quality assurance.
- Design and build reusable, scalable, and efficient SystemVerilog/UVM verification environments and IP.
- Establish comprehensive verification plans, coverage models, sign-off standards, and measurable quality objectives for your scope.
- Identify potential technical and timeline risks early, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure their resolution across cross-functional teams.
- Critically review proposed architecture and design modifications for correctness, testability, observability, performance, and verification complexity.
- Take ownership of resolving complex failures at unit-level, cross-unit, integration, or system-level stages.
- Coordinate verification efforts and dependencies among unit, subsystem, and DPU teams to ensure alignment.
- Enhance verification methodology, including automation, reuse, regression efficiency, debugging, and continuous integration approaches.
- Analyze verification data to uncover quality shortcomings, boost defect detection, and inform engineering priorities.
- Provide data-driven recommendations to influence project planning and technical decisions.
- Collaborate effectively with architecture, design, software, and other engineering teams at Arm to ensure successful integration of the DPU into complete systems.
Required Skills and Experience
- Strong expertise and practical coding experience in SystemVerilog and UVM, including complex verification environment architecture, implementation, and review.
- Hands-on experience verifying standard on-chip bus protocols like AMBA APB and AXI, or other recognized industry protocols.
- Proven capability to develop verification plans from the ground up for complex IP blocks or subsystems, covering strategy, stimulus creation, checking, coverage, risk evaluation, and sign-off benchmarks.
- Experience owning the verification process for either a multi-unit subsystem or a particularly intricate unit.
- Proficiency in developing verification testbenches.
- Practical programming skills in Python, C, or equivalent languages.
- Familiarity with verification supporting tools and infrastructure such as regression setup and analysis, version control systems, and code linting.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Knowledge or experience in power-aware verification techniques.
- Experience with formal verification methods.
- Working experience at IP or subsystem levels.
- Contributions to the verification domain through conference presentations or technical publications.
- Experience in performance analysis.
- Experience working with reference models implemented in C.
Interpersonal Skills
- Ability to provide clear direction amidst ambiguous and evolving specifications.
- Skill in engaging and aligning stakeholders to clarify requirements and resolve issues collaboratively.
- A proactive approach to ownership, driving cross-team collaboration to completion.
- Clear and effective communication paired with collaborative technical leadership.
