Job description
About Carma and the Role
At Carma, we're revolutionizing the Australian automotive space by offering a seamless digital pre-owned car buying and selling platform. Our all-in-house team ranges from engineering to marketing and reconditioning, driven by a passion for change and delivering exceptional experiences. As the inaugural Senior UX Designer on our Product team, you'll craft intuitive, engaging customer journeys across web and mobile platforms—from discovery through payment and final ownership. This key position will shape design culture at Carma, establishing high standards, scalable systems, and clarity in complex user flows while collaborating across Product, Engineering, and broader teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end UX design processes, developing from initial concepts and sketches through to refined, high-fidelity user interfaces for web and mobile.
- Leverage user research, usability testing, competitor analysis, and AI tools to inform smarter design solutions and uncover patterns.
- Map comprehensive customer journeys, including edge cases and exceptions, to produce real-world, usable products.
- Create and maintain design systems that ensure consistency, scalability, and a distinct Carma identity.
- Rapidly prototype designs that effectively communicate ideas and excite team members and stakeholders.
- Partner closely with Product, Engineering, and other departments to influence decisions throughout the product lifecycle.
- Explore and experiment with emerging AI design tools, sharing insights to elevate team craftsmanship.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum of 5 years' experience designing customer-focused digital products, preferably in B2C, eCommerce, FinTech, or similarly fast-paced industries.
- Expertise in UX concepts, interaction design, information architecture, and visual design.
- Proficient in Figma for prototyping and building functional design systems.
- Experience conducting or contributing to user research and usability testing, translating findings into improved design choices.
- Enthusiasm for AI applications in design and willingness to experiment beyond observation.
- Skilled in communicating design concepts clearly, cultivating stakeholder alignment, and explaining decisions without jargon.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity, shaping project briefs proactively.
- Collaborative mindset, open to feedback, focused on achieving outstanding outcomes over personal credit.
Benefits and Culture
- Join a rapidly expanding team where your input truly influences the business trajectory.
- Enjoy an open-plan office environment with quality coffee, plentiful snacks, and Friday rooftop drinks to maintain high energy.
- Exclusive advantages including discounts on Carma vehicles, parts, and NRMA coverage.
Inclusion and Accessibility
Carma is committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued and empowered to perform at their best. We encourage applicants of all backgrounds and experiences, regardless of car brand preference. We offer reasonable adjustments during the interview process to ensure a fair and comfortable experience.
