Role Overview
This senior underwriting position plays a pivotal role in driving growth for Chubb's Singapore Property division. The incumbent will manage a portfolio comprising complex, strategically significant multinational and structured Property and Terrorism insurance programs within the Major Accounts division. This role demands advanced technical underwriting skills, keen judgment, and proficiency in engaging senior stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Lead underwriting and pricing strategies for intricate Property and Terrorism risks, including multinational and structured portfolios, ensuring a balance between expansion and portfolio profitability within delegated limits.
- Review and negotiate bespoke policy wordings and program structures with clarity on coverage and risk transfer.
- Utilize catastrophe modeling and risk analytics to inform underwriting decisions while ensuring contract clarity and administrative precision.
- Drive new business development and cross-selling by nurturing trusted relationships with brokers, clients, and market partners; represent the company in market events and client engagements.
- Manage complex multinational programs, coordinating seamlessly with internal teams such as Risk Engineering and Claims, and liaising with global Chubb offices to deliver client solutions.
- Ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines, regulations, and audit standards; proactively identify emerging risks and contribute to strategic underwriting reviews.
- Provide mentorship and technical leadership to junior underwriters, fostering a collaborative, high-performance team environment.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- 5 to 10 years of Property underwriting expertise, ideally in Major Accounts, Large Corporate, or Structured Program insurance within General Insurance.
- In-depth knowledge of Property and Terrorism underwriting with experience in managing complex, high-value programs.
- Capability to evaluate, revise, and negotiate manuscript policy wordings and customized endorsements.
- Strong understanding of global catastrophe principles, modeling, and accumulation management, incorporating analytics into pricing and underwriting.
- Proven experience managing relationships with senior internal stakeholders, global brokers, multinational clients, and leadership teams.
- Comprehensive understanding of multinational insurance program frameworks, including master/local policies, fronting, and cross-border regulatory factors.
- Excellent analytical, commercial judgment, and decision-making skills within assigned authority.
- Self-driven, intellectually curious, results-focused, excellent communicator, and collaborative leader.
Preferred, but Not Required
- Experience underwriting Property risks across various Asian markets with knowledge of regional risk profiles and regulations.
- Familiarity with engineering-assisted underwriting and working alongside Risk Engineering on industrial or infrastructure accounts.
- Working knowledge of reinsurance structures applicable to large Property programs.
- Experience within a global insurer's multinational program framework and network office environment.
- A degree or professional certification in Insurance, Risk Management, Business, or related fields; preferred qualifications include ACII, ANZIIF Fellowship, or equivalents.
