Senior Transmission Lines Engineer

About the Role

Jacobs is driving innovation to solve some of the world's most critical challenges involving urban development, sustainable environments, mission-critical infrastructure, scientific progress, and modern manufacturing. As a Senior Transmission Lines Engineer within our Energy and Power group, you'll contribute to high voltage transmission line projects not only across New Zealand but also increasingly throughout the wider APAC region. The role involves engaging in all phases from initial design through to construction support, helping build the infrastructure fundamental to the energy transition.

This position offers flexibility to be based in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch or remotely anywhere in New Zealand, with opportunities to collaborate with a broad network of experts locally and across APAC. You'll experience a diverse workload combining detailed technical design, cross-regional teamwork, and occasional site visits to remote and unique locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and engineering of high voltage transmission line projects across New Zealand and the APAC region.
• Engage across all project phases, including early design through to construction support.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to technical decision-making.
• Support delivery of infrastructure projects essential to the energy transition.
• Occasionally perform site visits to project locations including remote areas.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Proven experience in transmission line engineering and design, with familiarity in related standards and methods.
• A tertiary degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
• Competence in transmission line design tools such as PLS-CADD, TOWER, or POLE.
• Understanding of relevant engineering standards including AS/NZS, IEEE, and IEC.
• Strong practical problem-solving skills with willingness to collaborate across teams and disciplines.
