Senior Town Planner

Role Overview

An established design-focused consultancy based in Exeter is seeking a seasoned Planner to join their team full-time. The role offers a salary range from a335,000 to a345,000 per year, dependent on experience. The company delivers architectural, construction management, and planning services within a collaborative environment. Candidates should possess extensive experience of at least ten years in town planning, ideally including exposure to leisure park projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Devise innovative and tailored planning solutions for diverse projects
• Prepare and present policy documents, project proposals, and tenders
• Manage client relationships independently, expanding and securing new business opportunities locally
• Engage with stakeholders, negotiate with developers, surveyors, architects, and other professionals
• Evaluate planning applications and follow through to successful outcomes
• Conduct research and data analysis to support strategic planning initiatives
• Create design layouts and draft explanatory design statements
• Represent the company at planning committees, public inquiries, and appeal hearings

Qualifications and Skills

• Relevant planning degree with membership or eligibility for MRTPI, RTPI, or RICS
• Proficient in CAD software for design-related tasks
• Strong project delivery capability
• Up-to-date knowledge of legislation related to land use
• Full UK driving license and readiness to travel as required
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with clients and colleagues
