About the Role
Join our team in Dubai, UAE as a Senior Oracle Database Engineer, contributing to various technology projects within enterprise environments. This role demands deep expertise in Oracle database administration and performance optimization, along with a strong inclination towards automating routine DBA tasks through modern automation tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and support Oracle databases, including Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) and Oracle Data Guard.
- Oversee database operations across Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Monitor and administer databases by leveraging Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM).
- Carry out backup and recovery operations using RMAN.
- Conduct database patching, migration, SQL and performance tuning activities to ensure reliability and operational stability.
- Automate repetitive Oracle DBA tasks utilizing technologies like Ansible, Jenkins, Terraform, and Groovy to enhance operational efficiency.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while delivering robust operational support, including occasional out-of-hours and weekend work as needed.
Requirements and Skills
- Minimum of 8 years' experience in Oracle database engineering within sizable organizations.
- Comprehensive understanding of Oracle Database Administration, Oracle RAC, Oracle Data Guard, Oracle Enterprise Manager, and RMAN.
- Proficient in managing databases on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and AWS environments.
- Skilled in database patching, migrations, SQL tuning, and overall performance optimization.
- Familiarity with SQL and/or PL/SQL programming.
- Sound knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems and scripting expertise in Bash and Python.
- Experience working within Agile development practices.
- Desired competencies include experience with automation and DevOps tools such as Ansible, Git, Jenkins, Groovy, and Terraform.
- Banking sector and analytical database management experience are advantageous.
- Relevant professional certifications are preferred but not mandatory.
Additional Information
This position occasionally requires working beyond regular hours, including weekends, to support critical operational needs. The candidate should be adaptable to a fast-moving environment and able to handle multiple demands concurrently.
