About the Role
Join ABB’s Energy Industries Division and become part of a team that supports industries to operate more efficiently and sustainably. As a Senior System Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering automation solutions that help customers achieve leaner, cleaner operations. This position reports to the Local Service Operations Manager and requires expertise in ABB System 800xA and broad automation engineering experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform advanced automation service tasks including installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, upgrades, retrofits, repairs, and end-of-life system support both onsite and remotely while adhering to ABB’s quality, safety, and operational standards.
- Build and maintain strong customer relations by understanding client needs, ensuring high service quality, and identifying opportunities to promote ABB’s service offerings and generate business growth.
- Lead technical diagnostics by analyzing complex system faults, conducting root cause analysis, recommending corrective actions, and implementing preventive solutions to improve system reliability and performance.
- Prepare and support engineering proposals, risk assessments, project cost estimations, and service documentation while contributing to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement of processes and customer service.
- Coordinate resources, materials, and equipment to ensure smooth project execution with a strong focus on health, safety, integrity, and cross-functional compliance.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Automation Engineering, Electronics, Instrumentation, or related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in automation, DCS services, and engineering hardware.
- At least 7 years of hands-on experience and deep expertise in ABB System 800xA engineering covering system design, installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, hardware configuration, and application development.
- Proven leadership experience managing and mentoring engineering teams, with strong abilities in technical solution design, problem solving, and remote support delivery.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience serving major industrial clients like ARAMCO, SABIC, SWCC, and Marafiq.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills; fluent in English, both written and spoken.
