Role Overview

As a Senior Supervision Management Specialist at AIA NZ, you will play a pivotal role in fostering excellent advisory practices and ensuring strong governance within our Financial Advice Provider network. Collaborating closely with advisers, leadership, risk and compliance teams, and key stakeholders, your mission is to assure that advisory services, disclosure procedures, complaint management, and record-keeping fulfill regulatory standards while promoting excellent customer experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enhance the quality and oversight of advisory services by conducting thorough reviews, pinpointing risks, and assisting with timely corrective actions to improve both customer outcomes and compliance.
  • Provide coaching and support to advisers and associated stakeholders to foster capability-building, endorse best practices, and maintain high supervision standards uniformly.
  • Lead initiatives aimed at continuous enhancement of supervision processes, improving operational efficiency, and supporting sustainable business growth.
  • Deliver precise and timely reports that empower sound decision-making and strengthen organisational governance.
  • Investigate complaints, advice shortcomings, and supervision-related issues, putting forward pragmatic solutions to reduce risk and elevate outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain trusted relationships with advisers, leadership teams, risk and compliance functions, and other relevant partners to support effective supervision and service excellence.

Candidate Profile

  • Proven experience in the financial services sector, with strong knowledge of advice processes, products, and how they impact customer outcomes.
  • Competency in analysing complex data, discerning emerging risks, and making balanced decisions in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent coaching, communication, and interpersonal skills, offering constructive feedback that encourages growth and ongoing improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate trusted relationships and influence diverse stakeholders to achieve beneficial results.
  • Experience managing complaint investigations, resolving complex challenges, and handling sensitive discussions with professionalism and empathy.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification, NCFS Level 5 certification, and familiarity with legislation such as Financial Markets Conduct Act (FMCA), Credit Contracts and Consumer Finance Act (CCCFA), and other regulatory frameworks are advantageous.
