Privacy Adviser

Role Overview

As a Privacy Adviser at AIA NZ, you will play a crucial role in fostering trust by ensuring the responsible handling of personal information in compliance with privacy laws. Operating within the Risk & Compliance team, you will collaborate across departments to oversee Privacy Act request management, privacy breach investigations, and Privacy Impact Assessments, while championing privacy-by-design principles.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage Privacy Act requests from initiation to resolution, ensuring outcomes are timely, fair, and compliant with legal standards.
• Advise stakeholders on conducting Privacy Impact Assessments and integrate privacy considerations into business initiatives and change projects.
• Evaluate and coordinate responses to privacy incidents to mitigate risk and facilitate effective resolution.
• Lead efforts to raise privacy awareness within the organisation through education and advocacy activities.
• Partner with business units to enhance privacy governance, improve processes, and promote customer-centered outcomes.
• Provide privacy guidance for the safe and compliant adoption of new technologies fitting regulatory and organisational requirements.

Candidate Profile

• Experience in applying privacy, compliance, risk management, or regulatory frameworks within customer-focused settings.
• Strong analytical abilities coupled with attention to detail, enabling thorough review and sound decision-making.
• Excellent communication skills and capacity to build trusted relationships with diverse stakeholders.
• Customer-focused approach with a dedication to ethical, fair, and respectful outcomes.
• Proficient organizational and time management capabilities to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Desirable: Background in financial services or insurance, privacy certifications, or expertise in the Privacy Act and privacy program frameworks.
