Senior Specialist - Data Modelling

Overview

This role involves analyzing and enhancing existing data models while creating an organizational data model that accurately reflects the Central Bank (CB) and its relationships with Licensed Financial Institutions. The focus is on minimizing data redundancy, optimizing data migration, and improving data retrieval mechanisms. Collaboration with data scientists and database administrators is essential to design impactful data models that support the organization's decision-making and elevate customer experience. A thorough understanding of how the Central Bank of UAE (CBUAE) utilizes its core data and maintaining data integrity by removing redundancies is key.

Key Responsibilities

• Facilitate data-driven decisions by defining conceptual, logical, and physical data models supporting core data for Central Bank departments and subsidiaries.
• Design and deploy the core data model within the new Enterprise Data Management platform to enhance data quality, integrity, accessibility, and security.
• Establish data modelling standards and oversee the creation of conceptual models supporting the bank's technology platforms, including data lakes and analytics, collaborating closely with data modelers and business leaders.
• Stay current with banking and financial legislation, regulatory frameworks, and best practices from international organizations.
• Ensure that examiners and BSD staff are adequately trained and proficient in utilizing and understanding data platforms and processes.
• Represent and embody the organization's brand positively in all interactions, communications, and process implementations with internal and external customers.

Self-Management Responsibilities

• Set performance objectives annually with the reporting manager and work to meet them throughout the year.
• Identify personal and team training needs in consultation with the reporting manager and attend the necessary programs.
• Strive to attain the highest proficiency in required competencies and skills for the role.
• Maintain professional growth by keeping up to date with industry developments, new methodologies, and current issues.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in Data Architecture and Data Modelling, including at least 5 years within Financial Services.
• Expertise with various database technologies and models, such as RDBMS, Snowflake, Star schemas, and HDFS.
• Proven ability to comprehend business requirements and translate them into data models.
• Familiarity with multiple financial and banking systems and applications.
• Strong influencing skills across organizational levels.
• Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities.
• Certification in data management, such as CMDP or CIMP, is advantageous.
