Role Overview
The Senior Solution Architect for Business Intelligence (BI) is a hands-on expert who thrives in a fast-paced environment. This role encompasses the full BI lifecycle—from analyzing source data, developing ETL processes, to implementing analytics and reporting. You will be instrumental in building Pet Valu’s Data and Analytics platform solutions, implementing tools for data discovery, predictive analytics, and empowering the organization with timely, actionable insights. Passionate about cutting-edge BI technologies, this position champions modern solutions to maintain Pet Valu's BI systems as industry leaders. As a mentor, you will guide development teams and business units in adopting best practices and maturing their BI capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote and communicate BI architectural concepts and solutions across IT and business stakeholders.
- Collaborate and support IT departments and business partners on BI and reporting projects and requests.
- Investigate, evaluate, and propose new BI technologies to ensure the platform evolves with business needs.
- Contribute to BI strategy and roadmap development for both short- and long-term planning.
- Design enterprise BI data and analytic platforms that enable scalable self-service BI for various business units.
- Develop automated processes and tools to enhance self-service BI capabilities efficiently.
- Establish and uphold enterprise-wide best practices, standards, policies for BI development, security, operation, and availability.
- Deliver BI solutions including analytics, dashboards, and reports that support decision-making to improve business outcomes.
- Apply software engineering principles to design solutions meeting scalability, maintainability, extensibility, and flexibility requirements.
- Participate in 24/7 on-call application support rotation.
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum of 7 years experience in professional software development.
- At least 5 years specializing as a BI architect.
- Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree in computer science or equivalent preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in proposing BI strategies and defining BI roadmaps.
- Proven background working with large-scale systems, including reporting, transactional systems, and integration with enterprise systems.
- Experience with modern cloud-based BI and visualization platforms such as Snowflake, Tableau, and Power BI.
- Strong understanding of contemporary data architectures like data mesh, data fabric, and data lakes.
- Hands-on expertise with ELT/ETL development and data integration processes.
- Proficiency in system analysis and design methodologies.
- Collaborate with Business Analysts to gather, prototype, and validate requirements ensuring technical feasibility and testability.
- Strong problem-solving skills, including debugging and investigation to resolve technical issues.
- Experience with multiple source/version control systems and code merging concepts.
- Exposure to Agile software development frameworks, automated testing, deployment, and source control systems.
- Familiarity with the ITIL framework.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is targeted between $110,000 and $140,000 per year, determined based on location, skills, experience, and internal equity.
