Overview
Join Pet Valu as a permanent Store Manager based in St. Catharines, Ontario, responsible for overseeing all aspects of retail store operations within a pet shop environment. The role requires a dynamic and detailed-oriented individual capable of managing daily activities, staff, and store performance effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise daily operational activities of the store.
- Evaluate store performance continuously and take corrective action as needed.
- Organize and plan daily business functions to meet sales targets.
- Manage, assign tasks, and support staff members to ensure smooth operations.
- Analyze market research and consumer trends to assess demand, forecast sales volume, and understand competitors' impact.
- Select and procure merchandise suitable for resale, determining the product and service mix.
- Execute pricing strategies and credit policies to optimize profitability.
- Develop and implement marketing approaches to drive store sales and visibility.
- Prepare budgets and closely monitor store revenues and expenditures to maintain financial health.
- Identify and determine staffing needs; recruit, hire, and oversee store employees and volunteers.
- Handle payroll and conduct regular performance reviews for staff development.
- Address and resolve store-related challenges including customer concerns, complaints, and stock shortages.
- Oversee office administrative functions and volunteer coordination.
Working Conditions and Environment
- Work weeks range from 30 to 40 hours.
- Located in a pet shop setting with availability of public transportation.
- Expect a fast-paced workplace requiring multitasking under pressure and meeting tight deadlines.
- Work involves a mix of sitting, standing, and walking activities.
Qualifications and Experience
- Post-secondary education: College or CEGEP diploma.
- Professional experience between one and two years or equivalent in retail management or related fields.
