Department Overview

Envysion, a Motorola Solutions company, delivers enterprise video security and business analytics for quick-service restaurants and retail sectors. Their cloud-based platform integrates video with sales data to detect fraudulent transactions and improve operations efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead engineering teams to achieve strategic objectives aligned with product features and services.
• Oversee release planning, execution, and communication for software appliances.
• Drive continuous improvement in release processes, tools, methodologies, and customer-facing interfaces.
• Provide technical guidance leveraging prior hands-on development experience to shape software architecture and strategy.
• Coordinate with cross-functional groups including product, customer success, sales, and support to align release priorities.
• Proactively monitor and analyze the health and performance of deployed connected devices, addressing issues promptly.

Required Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience as an Engineering Manager or Team Lead in cloud-managed video solutions.
• Experience managing software and QA engineers to successfully meet objectives.
• Extensive development experience (8+ years) with relational databases, JavaScript, C++, React; knowledge of build systems, CI/CD pipelines, and configuration management.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (especially AWS) and RESTful APIs.
• Understanding of video streaming technologies such as HLS.
• Working knowledge of AI inference engines like YOLO and OpenCV.
• Experience applying AI-driven tools and identifying automation opportunities within software development pipelines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills focusing on root cause analysis and prevention.
• Excellent communication skills capable of simplifying complex technical topics for varied audiences.
• Collaboration skills to build effective relationships across multidisciplinary teams.
• Attention to detail to ensure high-quality and stable software releases.
• Demonstrated ability to manage distributed, hybrid, or remote engineering teams balancing asynchronous and real-time collaboration.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with surveillance video camera hardware.
• Knowledge of physical access control and security products.
• Familiarity with business intelligence tools like Tableau or Quicksight.
• Experience with Embedded Linux, including OS customization, kernel updates, storage management, and filesystem resilience.
• Understanding of hardware constraints in managing high-definition video recording, streaming, and edge AI inference.
• Background in managing hardware test labs, automation of physical test rigs, test bench setups, and interoperability testing of IP cameras and sensors.

Additional Information

• Target Salary Range: 155000 to 175000 CAD annually, dependent on candidate expertise.
• Prefer candidates located in the Greater Vancouver Area.
• Travel requirements are less than 25%.
• No relocation assistance provided.
