Job Overview

Join a prominent semiconductor and sensor technology company as a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Android within the Sensors Technologies team. This position extends beyond conventional app development, involving work with a diverse range of hardware including commercial devices and experimental prototypes. The role requires deep knowledge near the Android platform layer.

Key Responsibilities

• Create enterprise-level Android applications distributed through internal app stores, integrating with platforms such as Wear OS and XR devices.
• Connect Android applications with backend services like Azure and SharePoint.
• Design, build, and test cross-platform desktop tools for Windows and Linux aimed at data gathering and demos involving Android devices.
• Develop Java software components adhering to industry best practices and deployment methods.
• Work across prototype and reference devices including mobile phones, wearables, and smart glasses.
• Perform debugging and issue isolation on both the application and Android platform levels, especially for unstable prototype hardware.
• Collaborate internationally with multidisciplinary teams to aid development and commercial rollout of sensor algorithms and related features.
• Contribute to and optimize complete data processing pipelines, ensuring effective monitoring and troubleshooting of production workflows.
• Support internal data collection initiatives, including fieldwork participation and device troubleshooting.
• Assist in commercialising sensor features through algorithm validation, customer data examination, and direct customer issue resolution.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or an allied discipline.
• Minimum 2 years of practical experience developing Android applications using the Android SDK.
• Strong object-oriented programming skills in Java or Kotlin and proven ability to deliver production-ready software.
• Proficiency in C++ and Python for building system-level tools and applications.
• Comfortable working near the Android platform, including integrating vendor-specific components like HALs or native services.
• Experience with Linux or deep understanding of system-level Android concepts is highly advantageous.
• Fluency in using Git and GitHub for version control.
• Exceptional debugging capabilities to pinpoint issues across both application and platform layers.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
• Highly organized, detail-conscious, and capable of managing multiple stakeholders within a dynamic, global team environment.

Additional Preferred Skills

• Master’s degree in engineering or computer science-related fields.
• Experience with cloud services such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Knowledge of enterprise device management and deployment strategies (e.g., Android Enterprise, MDM/MAM, Intune).
• Prior experience with React Native development.
• Competence in developing desktop GUI applications.
• Ability to operate efficiently in both Linux and Windows ecosystems.
• Previous exposure to Android Wear, Wear OS, or Android X devices.
