Role Overview

The Physical AI Engineering Team focuses on constructing and expanding the foundational platform that supports the most sophisticated engineering simulation and AI workflows globally. This involves advancing a distributed system architecture and preparing the platform for next-generation agentic AI applications. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be deeply involved in development, from designing and testing to deployment and operational reliability, mainly contributing to transitioning the platform toward a more distributed and scalable architecture suitable for agentic AI.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive architectural evolution from monolithic systems to distributed frameworks.
• Design solutions that prepare the platform for agentic AI applications and integration with MCP servers.
• Balance immediate development needs with strategic long-term architecture goals.
• Develop and optimize backend services using Python, emphasizing production-level quality.
• Construct and refine distributed computing services and workflow orchestration mechanisms.
• Participate in continuous integration and delivery, incorporating automated testing and deployment.
• Enhance system reliability via observability, monitoring, alerting, and incident management.
• Mentor and support engineering peers, promote best practices, and collaborate across product and engineering teams to translate requirements into robust technical implementations.
• Contribute to team-level decision-making, prioritization, and onboarding new engineers.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum of six years in software engineering with broad experience spanning CI/CD, automated test strategies, and production-grade reliability practices.
• Proficient in distributed systems design, backend service development, and API/service interface creation.
• Strong security awareness, including implementation of authentication and authorization protocols like OAuth.
• Expertise in Python development with a track record of maintaining production systems.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes in production contexts.
• Knowledge of workflow orchestration platforms such as Temporal, Airflow, or Kubeflow.
• Familiarity with cloud service providers, particularly AWS, with additional experience on Azure or GCP being advantageous.
• Exposure to data processing frameworks like Spark, Athena, or Ray is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills and collaborative approach within cross-functional teams.

Compensation and Benefits

The role offers a salary range from £98,000 to £130,000 annually, with final compensation reflecting candidate qualifications, experience, interview performance, and geographic factors.
