Senior Software Engineer

Overview

The Senior Software Engineer will lead the design, creation, integration, and ongoing support of enterprise software systems as part of HBMSU’s digital transformation initiatives. This role centers around .NET technologies with a focus on Student Information Systems (preferably Ellucian Banner), enterprise CRM suites, contact center platforms, communication technologies, and ERP system linkages. The engineer must ensure solutions are secure, scalable, and align with academic and administrative requirements while adhering to Dubai Government and HBMSU governance and standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze both functional and technical needs, converting them into secure and scalable .NET-based applications consistent with institutional policies.
• Develop, improve, and maintain software using C#, .NET Core, ASP.NET MVC, and APIs.
• Implement and maintain integrations with Student Information Systems such as Ellucian Banner or similar.
• Create and support connections with CRM platforms like Salesforce and ServiceNow.
• Support contact center and communications integrations including Genesys Cloud, Microsoft Teams, and Twilio to facilitate multi-channel service delivery.
• Develop and consume RESTful and SOAP web services incorporating secure single sign-on and identity management.
• Manage enterprise system integrations across HR, Finance, Procurement, and other institutional platforms.
• Utilize cloud-native services from AWS or Microsoft Azure including automation and CI/CD pipeline deployment.
• Monitor, customize, and update applications to maintain high availability, performance, and reliability.
• Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation and system workflows following HBMSU standards.
• Conduct various application testing phases, including unit, integration, regression, and user acceptance tests before production rollout.
• Offer second-tier technical support for application issues and service requests.
• Comply with security policies, information security management systems, and Dubai Government regulations, reporting security incidents through official channels.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, cybersecurity, DevOps teams, vendors, and business units to deliver integrated solutions.
• Perform any additional duties assigned by management to support departmental and organizational aims.

Qualifications and Experience

• 8 to 10 years of experience in enterprise software engineering with a strong concentration on .NET frameworks.
• Hands-on experience integrating Student Information Systems with a preference for Ellucian Banner or comparable platforms.
• Proven expertise in enterprise system integration, APIs, and middleware technologies.
• Practical experience working with CRM solutions such as Salesforce and ServiceNow.
• Familiarity with contact center technologies including Genesys Cloud, Microsoft Teams, or Twilio is highly desirable.
• Experience with ERP system support or integration is beneficial.
• Experience working with cloud platforms like AWS or Microsoft Azure in production settings.

Education and Certifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related discipline from an accredited university.
• Mandatory professional experience with .NET, C#, ASP.NET, and .NET Core development.
• Certifications in AWS or Microsoft Azure are preferred.
• Additional certifications in enterprise system integration are advantageous.

Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies

• Strong programming skills in C#, .NET Core, ASP.NET MVC, REST and SOAP web services.
• Familiarity with Student Information Systems like Ellucian Banner or equivalents.
• Knowledge of integration tactics for platforms such as Salesforce and ServiceNow.
• Understanding of integration frameworks for Genesys Cloud, Microsoft Teams, and Twilio.
• Experience with cloud service deployment and security in AWS or Microsoft Azure environments.
• Strong database skills including SQL Server, Oracle, and MySQL.
• Solid understanding of application security principles, data protection, and access control mechanisms.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities.
• Capability to perform effectively in government or semi-government institutional settings.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with proper technical documentation abilities.
• Arabic language proficiency is desirable; fluent English communication is required.
