Job description
Role Overview
The Instructional Designer is tasked with developing structured and measurable instructional content tailored to achieve effective learning outcomes. This role emphasizes the creation of sound learning objectives, assessment strategies, coherent content sequencing, and maintaining pedagogical rigor in line with academic standards, accreditation norms, and desired learner achievements.
Primary Responsibilities
- Analyze learner needs, profiles, and performance gaps to inform design decisions.
- Develop course architectures, learning pathways, and instructional plans.
- Create and align learning objectives with Bloom's Taxonomy or similar frameworks.
- Design formative and summative assessments, including rubrics and evaluation criteria.
- Convert expert subject matter content into well-organized instructional materials.
- Ensure materials comply with accreditation standards and maintain quality benchmarks.
- Collaborate closely with subject matter experts, faculty, and content creation teams.
- Evaluate and assure the clarity, cohesion, and pedagogical integrity of learning resources.
- Support implementation of adaptive and data-driven learning methodologies as applicable.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Learning Sciences, or related discipline.
- Between 4 to 7 years of instructional design experience within higher education, corporate education, or digital learning settings.
- Strong foundation in instructional design theories and models such as ADDIE, Backward Design, and Constructivism.
- Proven expertise in designing assessments and mapping learning outcomes.
- Practical experience using Learning Management Systems, specifically Moodle and Blackboard.
Preferred Skills and Tools
- Knowledge of micro-credentials and stackable learning structures.
- Experience with adaptive learning technologies and utilization of learning analytics for instructional design.
- Background designing for environments subject to accreditation and regulatory oversight.
- Proficiency with authoring software like Articulate Storyline and Adobe Captivate.
- Skills in video editing tools and AI-based text-to-audio, text-to-video, and text-to-image solutions.
- Familiarity with LMS, assessment and rubric design tools, content collaboration platforms, version control, accessibility, and quality assurance methodologies.
- Experience with user experience (UX) design and prototype tools for learning experiences.

- Clarity and quality of articulated learning objectives.
- Learner course completion and success rates.
- Positive outcomes from accreditation and quality assurance processes.
