Primary Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and maintain infrastructure services using Golang, typically delivered as Kubernetes operators, to support the Confluent cloud foundation accessible to engineering teams.
• Employ tools like Terraform, Datadog, Prometheus, along with deep expertise in Linux, public cloud environments, and networking; Golang software engineering remains your main focus.
• Collaborate closely with Confluent engineers in building and enhancing the cloud Platform as a Service (PaaS) offering.
• Take accountability for cloud availability, performance, monitoring, incident response, and capacity management for Confluent’s streaming platform.
• Design and optimize large-scale data streaming systems comprising tens of thousands of instances, striving for smooth, secure, and efficient operations while influencing architectural and operational design decisions.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure and networking concepts.
• Strong foundation in the design and implementation of distributed systems.
• Proven track record developing and operating systems at large scale.
• Comprehensive understanding of fundamental systems operations including storage, networking, and OS fundamentals.
• Proactive and autonomous worker able to function effectively within team environments.
• Proficient in Golang, Python, C++, or other statically typed programming languages.
• Practical knowledge of public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.

Preferred Experience

• Experience specifically with Golang is considered advantageous.
• Familiarity with Apache Kafka technology is a significant plus.
