Senior Software Engineer, Atlas Clusters

Role Overview

MongoDB is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Atlas Clusters team, which is responsible for developing MongoDB Atlas — the company's database-as-a-service platform, currently their fastest expanding product. This platform enables users to deploy secure, fault-tolerant, and globally distributed MongoDB clusters swiftly across leading cloud providers including AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.

Primary Responsibilities

• Design and implement new features for the MongoDB Atlas platform.
• Take ownership of complex technical projects, contributing as a lead.
• Work closely with various MongoDB stakeholders to define product roadmaps and enhance offerings.
• Collaborate with customers and support teams to troubleshoot issues and participate in the on-call rotation.
• Engage with teammates to refine codebase, coding standards, and architectural design principles.
• Promote an inclusive and respectful workplace environment aligned with MongoDB's core values.

Candidate Profile

• A minimum of six years professional experience in software development.
• Proficient in building large-scale distributed backend systems using compiled languages such as Go, Java, or C#.
• Practical experience working with at least one major cloud provider technology: AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Proven experience in leading the launch and ongoing maintenance of a software module in production.
• Strong problem-solving aptitude and eagerness to tackle challenging technical issues.
• Excellent communication abilities complemented by a collaborative and motivated mindset.

Performance Milestones

• Within three months: Deliver production-quality code and collaborate effectively with the team.
• Within six months: Contribute significantly to a major project and participate in the on-call duties.
• Within twelve months: Lead the design of new features, manage development initiatives, and become a subject-matter expert for system components.
