Senior Shopify Engineer

Position Overview

Our partner company is seeking an experienced Senior Shopify Engineer based in Saudi Arabia to join their remote engineering team. This role involves creating sophisticated Shopify solutions including custom themes and specialized applications, transforming polished UI/UX designs into seamless, high-performance storefronts, while ensuring accessibility and scalability. The engineer will own technical integration, architecture, and platform optimization, collaborating closely with designers, strategists, and other engineers to take projects from concept through launch. Key Responsibilities

• Lead development of bespoke Shopify themes from the ground up, delivering responsive and pixel-perfect frontend experiences based on UI/UX designs.
• Architect, build, and maintain custom Shopify applications tailored to client and business needs.
• Enhance Shopify storefronts focusing on performance, SEO, responsiveness, and scalability using modern engineering standards.
• Develop and manage integrations between Shopify and third-party APIs, services, and platforms.
• Participate in designing scalable technical frameworks and make thoughtful engineering decisions for Shopify projects.
• Collaborate closely with product stakeholders, designers, strategists, and engineers to deliver comprehensive digital commerce solutions.
• Engage in contemporary development workflows including version control, code reviews, continuous integration/delivery, testing, and deployment.
• Stay abreast of Shopify’s API changes, development tools, and platform innovations, applying relevant advancements to projects.

Required Qualifications

• At least 5 years of professional experience in front-end or full-stack development with a strong focus on Shopify solutions.
• Advanced skills in Shopify Liquid, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), and modern front-end development methodologies.
• Demonstrated success in building Shopify themes from scratch rather than modifying existing ones.
• Proficient in developing private and public Shopify applications using Node.js, React, or similar technologies.
• Strong familiarity with REST and GraphQL APIs, including integrating third-party services into Shopify stores.
• Expertise in optimizing storefront performance, responsive design, SEO standards, and scalable Shopify infrastructure.
• Experience with Git workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and current software engineering practices.
• Ability to independently solve complex technical issues and drive projects to completion with high quality.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities to effectively work within fast-paced, multidisciplinary teams.
