Role Overview
The Senior Sales Development Representative (SDR) role focuses primarily on generating pipeline at the top of the sales funnel by researching target companies, conducting outbound outreach, and scheduling qualified first meetings for Account Executives (AEs). This role entails no closing responsibilities but ensures a continuous flow of well-qualified leads for the AE team. You will prospect across a defined set of accounts related to our enterprise event platform and Sponsor & Exhibitor Manager (SEM) solution, targeting event, marketing, and sponsorship stakeholders at global tech firms, professional associations, agencies, and large-scale event organizers across Australia, ASEAN, and the UK.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed research to map and identify the appropriate event, marketing, and sponsorship contacts within target organizations.
- Execute multi-channel outbound campaigns, including email, phone, and LinkedIn outreach, following established target lists and communication sequences.
- Qualify leads thoroughly and assign them to the correct AE adhering to service-level agreements.
- Perform structured first-call qualifications, scheduling meetings that meet pre-defined handover criteria.
- Prepare detailed pre-meeting briefs enabling AEs to enter discussions well-informed.
- Maintain precise and up-to-date records of contacts, accounts, and activities within Salesforce and other sales engagement tools.
- Leverage AI tools and sales technology to conduct research, personalize messaging, and efficiently prioritize outreach at scale.
- Relay prospect insights, objections, and market intelligence back to sales and marketing teams.
- Participate in weekly pipeline and outbound strategy reviews.
Performance Metrics
- Number of qualified meetings scheduled monthly.
- Conversion rates from meetings to opportunities.
- Value of the generated sales pipeline.
- Levels of outbound activity and response rates.
- Accuracy and completeness of CRM data.
Collaboration and Support
This role works closely with the Head of Sales to review outbound activities, refine messaging, and address qualification or lead quality issues. Additionally, it partners with AEs to ensure a smooth handover of leads, obtain feedback on meeting outcomes, and coordinate joint account planning.
Development and Advancement
This position is ideal for individuals with 1-2 years of successful sales development experience seeking a structured progression into an AE role. It offers opportunities to develop advanced skills in discovery, qualification, and deal management, supported by coaching and clear career pathways.
Required Skills and Experience
- 2-3 years of experience in sales and business development roles.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills characterized by clarity, conciseness, and professionalism.
- Comfort and resilience in engaging prospects via phone calls.
- Highly organized with a process-oriented approach capable of self-managing daily workflows.
- Curiosity and understanding of business event operations and purchasing motivations.
- Familiarity or rapid adaptability to AI tools and contemporary sales technologies such as Claude.
- Strong personal accountability and motivation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Salesforce, Apollo, or comparable sales engagement systems.
- Exposure to events, SaaS software, or professional services sectors.
- Understanding of formal qualification methodologies (e.g., MEDDPICC).
