Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Senior Resident Construction Engineer to oversee contractor and subcontractor performance on projects, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, contractual, and technical standards. You will manage schedules, budgets, and risks, provide leadership to project teams, act as a primary client contact, and supervise activities throughout full project lifecycles to ensure successful deliveries and operational handovers.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor contractor compliance with project goals, including KPIs related to safety, quality, timelines, and budgets.
• Lead regular meetings and workshops to ensure work is delivered safely, on schedule, and meets quality standards.
• Build collaborative working relationships with subordinates and contractors as part of a team environment.
• Offer project management insights for interpreting specifications, methods, scheduling, and productivity; resolve conflicts arising from contractor performance.
• Supervise Resident Construction Engineers across Architecture, Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical disciplines, as well as administrative staff.
• Manage correspondence and submittals between contractors and the client.
• Review and coordinate approvals for shop and as-built drawings, material submissions, and technical or contractual clarifications.
• Assess and recommend approval of monthly contractor invoices and progress reports.
• Identify and address potential issues impacting contractor performance relative to schedules or specifications.
• Collaborate with contractors, departments, and stakeholders to ensure problem resolutions align with project goals.
• Coordinate with design, engineering, procurement, operations, end users, and other client departments to resolve technical and interface challenges.
• Assist the Senior Resident Construction Manager with contract administration, including tracking change orders, claims, delays, extension of time requests, and compliance matters.
• Perform additional duties as necessary for successful fulfillment of the role's responsibilities.

Mandatory Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or related field from a recognized Western university.
• At least 10 years of construction experience, with minimum 5 years in direct Project Management or Construction Management on diverse infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, utilities, residential, commercial, educational, healthcare, and industrial facilities.
• Deep knowledge of construction methods, codes, quality control, and change management.
• Professional certifications or memberships desirable, like Chartered Engineer (CEng), Professional Engineer (PE) license, or Project Management Professional (PMP).
• Experience working with multi-craft and multi-disciplinary construction teams in multicultural settings.
• Fluency in both written and spoken English is required.
• Proficiency with MS Office suite, MS Project, Primavera, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Eligibility to acquire Saudi driver's license.

Preferred Skills

• International industry experience of at least 5 years is a plus.
• Arabic language proficiency, both oral and written, is desirable but not mandatory.
