Senior Quantity Surveyor - Main Contractor

About the Role

A prominent main contractor expanding its presence in Cork is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their local team. This role supports both commercial and residential construction projects, offering a vibrant and collaborative work environment where career growth is encouraged.

Key Responsibilities

• Developing and managing project budgets, cost plans, and estimates
• Performing thorough cost analyses and benchmarking
• Supporting procurement processes including tender preparation and evaluation
• Negotiating pricing and commercial deals with subcontractors and suppliers
• Tracking project costs, valuations, and overall financial outcomes
• Handling variations, claims, and mitigating commercial risks
• Generating regular cost reports and financial updates for project stakeholders
• Spotting opportunities for value engineering and cost reduction
• Ensuring adherence to contractual terms and maintaining detailed commercial records
• Collaborating effectively with project managers, site teams, and clients throughout all project phases

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field
• At least six years of experience in a Quantity Surveying capacity within the construction industry
• Proven experience managing commercial and/or residential projects
• Deep understanding of construction contracts and strong commercial insight
• Excellent analytical abilities paired with effective negotiation and communication skills
• Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational capabilities
• Ability to operate independently while contributing positively to team dynamics
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications as well as standard Quantity Surveying software tools
