Group Head of IT

Overview

We are looking for a visionary and strategic Group Head of IT to oversee and lead the comprehensive technology function for a prominent enterprise group located in Doha, Qatar. Reporting to the Group Chief Operating Officer, this role entails crafting and realizing the technology vision by defining IT strategies, instituting modern governance frameworks, and championing digital enablement initiatives across various business units. You will orchestrate a talented team responsible for IT Operations, Applications, Infrastructure, and Cybersecurity to ensure efficient, secure, and business-aligned technology services.

Key Duties

• Develop and implement both long-term and short-term IT strategies, technology roadmaps, and enterprise architecture aligned with the group’s overarching business objectives.
• Oversee the group IT budget including capital and operational expenses while performing cost-benefit analyses to maximize returns on technology investments.
• Manage deployment, performance optimization, and maintenance of enterprise applications, network infrastructure, databases, and IT service desk operations.
• Enforce stringent cybersecurity controls, data governance policies, backup and disaster recovery procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory and data protection requirements.
• Identify, negotiate, and manage relationships with key IT vendors, managed service providers, and software partners.
• Lead cross-functional IT projects related to application integration and digital transformation, ensuring alignment with business goals.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to direct reports including Application Specialists, IT Administrators, and Security Engineers, establishing clear performance goals and fostering ongoing professional growth.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related technical field is required.
• A minimum of 10 to 15 years of progressive experience in IT roles, including senior leadership positions such as Head of IT, Head of Applications, or Senior IT Director in group-level or enterprise environments.
• Comprehensive knowledge of enterprise architecture, network infrastructure, database administration, IT service management (ITSM), and contemporary cybersecurity practices including encryption, access controls, and risk management.
• Strong leadership skills encompassing strategic planning, vendor and stakeholder management, and team leadership capabilities.
• Willingness to be based in or relocate to Doha, Qatar.
