Role Overview

The Red Hat Services team in Canberra seeks a Senior Project Manager to oversee projects from start to finish. Responsibilities include managing cross-functional teams, ensuring timely delivery within budget, and liaising with senior stakeholders. The role demands an experienced project management professional adept in industry best practices, capable of handling diverse challenges, and fostering collaboration across multiple geographies.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage project requirements, scope changes, and related issues effectively.
• Oversee all financial aspects including budgets, costs, staffing, and risk assessments.
• Ensure compliance with all legally binding obligations.
• Develop and implement project control mechanisms for planning, scheduling, and progress tracking using various tools.
• Provide accurate project forecasts for clients and internal teams.
• Plan, schedule, monitor, and report project activities, including subcontractor oversight.
• Establish metrics to measure crucial project performance indicators.
• Prepare detailed project status reports and lead team and client review meetings.
• Apply industry-standard project management and technical delivery approaches such as Agile, Waterfall, Systems/Software Development, and Product Development methodologies.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in project management.
• Proven history of managing complex projects successfully from inception to completion.
• Experience in initiating and contributing to process improvements.
• Skilled at managing multicultural and multidisciplinary teams.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication, interpersonal, leadership, analytical, and business judgment skills.
• Capacity to collaborate effectively across diverse management groups and external partners.
• Aptitude for managing multiple concurrent projects.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to perform well under fast-paced conditions.
• Balanced understanding of business and technical domains.
• Professional certifications from PMI or in Agile methodologies are preferred.
• Familiarity with Open Source technologies is an advantage.
• Must hold Australian Government Top Secret Positive Vetting (PV) security clearance.
