Role Overview

The Senior Production Engineer will lead a team of engineers adopting a Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) approach to design, develop, and maintain large-scale, complex infrastructure. This hybrid environment utilizes virtual machines, containers, and serverless technologies to host hundreds of thousands of websites, serving a significant global user base.

Key Responsibilities

• Foster an engineering culture prioritizing rapid delivery combined with high standards for stability, performance, security, and scalability.
• Oversee public cloud infrastructure across providers like Google Cloud Platform and AWS, managing monitoring, alerting, and resolution of production issues.
• Identify automation opportunities, implementing scalable solutions to reduce manual operational tasks and improve platform efficiency.
• Act as a technical lead during major incidents, coordinating communication, analyzing alert trends, and performing root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
• Safely manage production changes including code deployments and patch management.
• Collaborate closely with Product and Engineering Management to ensure technical initiatives align with business priorities and roadmaps.
• Support continuous learning and career growth by mentoring and coaching engineers organization-wide.

Qualifications & Skills

• Minimum five years of experience in software engineering, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering, handling production systems at scale.
• Proven skills in system architecture, including distributed microservice design and self-healing infrastructure optimizing resource and network use.
• Expertise in deploying containerized workloads on Kubernetes and Docker within public cloud environments.
• Proficiency with programming languages, particularly Python and Go, for scripting and automation.
• Deep knowledge of web serving infrastructure including Linux, Nginx or Apache, MySQL, PHP, plus infrastructure automation tools like Ansible and Terraform.
• Experience in building observability systems using tools such as Prometheus and EFK stacks for monitoring and alerting.
• A proactive and analytical mindset, skilled in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and thriving in team-based settings.
