Senior Principal Foundry Engineer - Product Engineering

Role Overview

The External Wafer Manufacturing team collaborates with external semiconductor foundries to guarantee consistent chip supply for various NXP business lines. This senior position focuses on driving yield improvements for flagship products especially during new technology introductions (NTI), foundry process transitions, and new fabrication plant setups.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement methodologies and infrastructure for automated yield monitoring and detailed yield analysis.
• Collaborate closely with NXP technology and product divisions to formulate comprehensive yield enhancement strategies aligned with new technology launches.
• Evaluate yield improvement requirements across the company to prioritize efforts that align with business objectives, influencing both internal teams and external foundries to dedicate appropriate resources.
• Engage with foundry partners to actively improve yield rates, possessing thorough knowledge of semiconductor process, device limitations, design, and test challenges spanning multiple products and technology nodes.
• Develop and standardize Best Known Methods (BKMs) for yield enhancement across diverse technology platforms.
• Maintain continuous communication with global NXP technology/product teams and semiconductor foundries, particularly in Asia, to accomplish corporate yield targets.

Candidate Requirements

• Must hold at least a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• A minimum of 10 years’ experience in semiconductor yield improvement or related specialties.
• Fluent in both English and Mandarin Chinese to effectively engage with Mandarin-speaking suppliers and stakeholders.
• Strong expertise in yield enhancement methodologies and intensive data analytics.
• Proficient understanding of failure analysis techniques.
• Familiarity with SoC architecture and testing patterns for products.
• Experience with yield management systems, programming, and database structures is advantageous.
