Senior Platform Engineer – Digital Workplace Security Services

About the Role

Kiwibank seeks a Senior Platform Engineer to join the Digital Workplace Security Services (DWSS) team within our Enterprise Technology Hub. Located in Wellington or central Auckland, this position plays a key role in developing, operating, and enhancing enterprise security platforms that protect our people, data, and technology assets.

Responsibilities

As a senior engineer, you will collaborate closely with your Lead Engineer and Product Lead to deliver secure, reliable platforms aligned with industry standards. You will take ownership for detailed design and implementation tasks within the team, support fellow engineers, and ensure quality delivery. Your platforms will be vital to safeguarding Kiwibank by supporting information security, data governance, and corporate functions. The role includes hands-on engineering and participation in an on-call roster.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for someone who demonstrates:

• An automation mindset aiming to streamline repetitive work and bolster system reliability and scalability
• Experience within regulated industries such as banking, emphasizing security, risk management, and governance
• Effective communication skills to articulate complex technical concepts clearly to various audiences and maintain team alignment
• A proven record of delivering impactful improvements ranging from daily enhancements to significant projects

Required Skills and Experience

• Extensive experience managing human and machine identity in large or complex environments including both cloud and on-premises directories, identity governance, and privileged access management
• Proven ability to design, implement, and operate Privileged Access Management (PAM) solutions incorporating privileged identity governance, least privilege enforcement, session management, and operational support
• Practical knowledge working with cloud infrastructure tools such as Terraform and Git, and leveraging APIs to integrate and enhance platform capabilities
• Competence in Agile or DevOps methodologies, collaborating effectively with engineering teams to plan, execute, and continually improve workflows
• Strong security awareness with experience partnering closely with information security and data governance teams to align platform delivery with their needs
• Experience mentoring and knowledge sharing to elevate the skills of fellow engineers
• Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language
