Job description
Role Overview
Join a global team committed to environmental stewardship and sustainable community futures. As a Senior Planner based in Auckland, you will provide technical leadership and support to deliver quality planning projects on time and within budget. This role also includes mentoring team members and building strong client relationships while contributing to business development efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise planning projects serving as Project Manager, Technical Reviewer, or Project Director.
- Establish and maintain strong business relationships with clients, ensuring project goals and client satisfaction are achieved.
- Engage in client care activities and promote the use of client management systems.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities through proposals and networking.
- Manage multidisciplinary project teams and oversee financial aspects including budgets and scheduling.
- Mentor and develop staff, fostering a culture rooted in teamwork, respect, and integrity.
Candidate Profile
- Possess a Bachelor's degree with at least eight years of experience in environmental planning.
- Hold full membership or be working toward membership of the New Zealand Planning Institute (NZPI).
- Demonstrate technical competency recognized both internally and externally.
- Have an in-depth understanding of New Zealand's planning system, relevant legislation, and council resource management frameworks.
- Maintain a proven track record in regional or local council planning, including leadership in plan reviews and infrastructure consents.
- Exhibit project management skills encompassing financial control, budgeting, and scheduling.
- Have established client networks and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats.
- Be proactive, decisive, and adept at problem-solving.
- Possess strong analytical abilities and a self-driven, energetic approach.
