Senior Oracle Database Engineer

About The Role

We are seeking a Senior Oracle Database Engineer to contribute to enterprise technology initiatives, emphasizing Oracle performance optimization and DBA automation. This position involves working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment handling multiple projects simultaneously and requires the ability to perform under pressure, including occasional out-of-office and weekend support.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform administration and support tasks for Oracle databases across both production and non-production systems.
• Take full ownership of performance tuning at both the SQL and database levels.
• Manage high availability infrastructures such as Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) and Oracle Dataguard.
• Conduct backup and recovery operations utilizing Recovery Manager (RMAN).
• Handle database patching schedules and version upgrades effectively.
• Oversee environments using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM).
• Support and manage Oracle databases hosted on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and AWS platforms.
• Automate recurring DBA workflows using tools including Ansible, Jenkins, Terraform, and Groovy.
• Lead or assist with database migration projects.
• Develop and maintain operational scripts in Bash and Python to improve efficiency.
• Collaborate within Agile delivery teams across multiple concurrent projects.
• Provide production support during off-hours and weekends as necessary.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or related discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years' experience as an Oracle DBA in large organizations.
• Proficient hands-on experience with Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) and Dataguard.
• Strong expertise in Recovery Manager (RMAN) operations.
• Experience managing Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) environments.
• Comprehensive knowledge of database patching and upgrade processes.
• Advanced understanding of SQL and database performance tuning techniques.
• Familiarity with database migration strategies and methodologies.
• Working knowledge of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Proficient in SQL and/or PL/SQL programming.
• Good working knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems.
• Experience working within Agile frameworks.
• Competence in scripting with Bash and Python.

Preferred Qualifications

• Relevant Oracle certifications are advantageous.
• Background in banking or analytical databases is beneficial.
• Experience with automation and version control tools such as Ansible, Git, Jenkins, Groovy, and Terraform.
