About The Role
We are seeking a Senior Oracle Database Engineer to contribute to enterprise technology initiatives, emphasizing Oracle performance optimization and DBA automation. This position involves working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment handling multiple projects simultaneously and requires the ability to perform under pressure, including occasional out-of-office and weekend support.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform administration and support tasks for Oracle databases across both production and non-production systems.
- Take full ownership of performance tuning at both the SQL and database levels.
- Manage high availability infrastructures such as Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) and Oracle Dataguard.
- Conduct backup and recovery operations utilizing Recovery Manager (RMAN).
- Handle database patching schedules and version upgrades effectively.
- Oversee environments using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM).
- Support and manage Oracle databases hosted on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and AWS platforms.
- Automate recurring DBA workflows using tools including Ansible, Jenkins, Terraform, and Groovy.
- Lead or assist with database migration projects.
- Develop and maintain operational scripts in Bash and Python to improve efficiency.
- Collaborate within Agile delivery teams across multiple concurrent projects.
- Provide production support during off-hours and weekends as necessary.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or related discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years' experience as an Oracle DBA in large organizations.
- Proficient hands-on experience with Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) and Dataguard.
- Strong expertise in Recovery Manager (RMAN) operations.
- Experience managing Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) environments.
- Comprehensive knowledge of database patching and upgrade processes.
- Advanced understanding of SQL and database performance tuning techniques.
- Familiarity with database migration strategies and methodologies.
- Working knowledge of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Proficient in SQL and/or PL/SQL programming.
- Good working knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems.
- Experience working within Agile frameworks.
- Competence in scripting with Bash and Python.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant Oracle certifications are advantageous.
- Background in banking or analytical databases is beneficial.
- Experience with automation and version control tools such as Ansible, Git, Jenkins, Groovy, and Terraform.
