Senior Network Security Engineer

Job Overview

As a Senior Network Security Engineer, you will take full ownership of the end-to-end delivery of application security, especially focusing on Web Application Firewall (WAF) and threat protection for content and files. Your primary hands-on expertise will be with Cloudflare and OPSWAT platforms, alongside secondary operational knowledge of Palo Alto, Fortigate, and F5 platforms including LTM/WAF and GTM. Your responsibilities span from domain onboarding, WAF and rate-limiting rule configuration, Single Sign-On (SSO) application setup, custom hostname management, development of Cloudflare Workers, and managing IP and hostname lists to OPSWAT-based file scanning and secondary platform support.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage Cloudflare across onboarded domains involving DNS, WAF and rate-limiting rule creation and tuning, custom hostnames, and list management of hostnames and IPs.
• Execute domain onboarding and lifecycle supervision to enforce consistent security baselines and WAF configurations.
• Configure and support Cloudflare Zero Trust/Access SSO applications for safe authentication procedures.
• Create and maintain Cloudflare Workers to implement custom edge logic, security automation, and traffic management.
• Administer OPSWAT's file scanning platform for inspection of data in transit and at rest, handling analysis and resolution of scan results including false positives.
• Optimize WAF policies on Cloudflare and ancillary platforms to minimize false alarms while maintaining robust protection.
• Provide administrative support for Palo Alto and Fortigate firewall policies and rules.
• Maintain and support F5 LTM/WAF tasks like virtual server setup, pool and health monitor configuration, and WAF policies.
• Assist with F5 GTM for DNS-based global load balancing, failover processes, and health assessments.
• Monitor Cloudflare analytics on WAF triggers, rate limiting, and Workers' performance, conducting root cause analysis on irregularities.
• Document configurations thoroughly across domains, WAF rules, hostname/IP lists, SSO apps, and associated platforms.
• Collaborate with infrastructure and security teams to manage change control involving major configuration updates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a comparable discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of professional experience in application delivery, WAF management, and content security engineering.
• Extensive, primary hands-on experience with Cloudflare services including domains, WAF rules, rate limiting, SSO applications, custom hostnames, Workers, hostname and IP list configurations.
• Good working knowledge of Palo Alto and Fortigate firewalls, and experience with F5 LTM/WAF and GTM technologies.
• Deep understanding of DNS, SSL/TLS encryption, traffic management from layers 4 to 7, and expertise in triaging file-based security threats.
• Relevant certifications preferred: Cloudflare Certified Solutions Associate/Engineer, OPSWAT certification, Palo Alto PCNSA/PCNSE, Fortinet NSE, F5 Certified BIG-IP Administrator.

Technical Skill Areas

• Cloudflare domain management including onboarding and DNS.
• Development and management of WAF rules (minimum three per domain), and tuning of rate limiting rules.
• Setup and administration of Cloudflare SSO applications for authentication security.
• Configuration and deployment of Cloudflare Workers for custom traffic and security logic.
