Job description
Overview
The role entails leading the design and execution of metering engineering initiatives, delivering expert advice on metering equipment and instrument integrity. The engineer will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to support project readiness and facilitate safe, seamless start-ups of Operations Expansion & Start Up (OES) projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate and deploy detailed metering strategies for OES projects, ensuring compliance with industry benchmarks, regulations, and project demands.
- Create and uphold engineering specifications and standards for metering instruments tailored to operational prerequisites.
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure metering systems are effectively integrated into facility blueprints, satisfying both operational and contractual criteria.
- Manage the installation, adjustment, and validation of metering equipment to guarantee precision and dependability.
- Execute system audits and inspections to spot improvement opportunities and uphold regulatory, contractual, and operational conformity.
- Offer specialized assessments on metering equipment integrity, aligning with project specifications and strict quality norms.
- Engage with suppliers and vendors to verify procurement quality and reliability of metering components.
- Draft technical requirements for metering contracts, define scopes of work, assess tender bids for metering services, and assist with budgeting and audits according to organizational procedures.
- Serve as liaison with regulatory bodies and certification authorities to ascertain adherence to industry codes and standards.
- Coordinate with third-party vendors and agencies for specialized and innovative metering technologies.
- Work in unison with operations, engineering, and project teams to perform risk analyses focusing on safety, reliability, and environmental impact to guarantee project preparedness.
- Monitor advancements in metering technologies and industry practices to recommend and apply innovative methods enhancing reliability and operational efficiency during project inception.
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in instrumentation or electronics engineering.
Experience and Knowledge
- At least six years of professional experience in sectors such as oil and gas, petrochemicals, process plants, or power generation, with a minimum of four years specializing in flow measurement and metering.
- Proficient with engineering software tools relevant to flow measurement and metering, including Kelton flow calculation and S600 flow computer applications.
- Familiarity with ISO standards related to flow measurement.
Technical and Communication Skills
- Fluent proficiency in English, both written and oral.
- Competence in computer applications like MS Word and Excel, and familiarity with relevant software tools and specifications.
- Experience working with Meridium or equivalent data management software.
