Senior Manager, Software Engineering, Core Custody

Overview

The Senior Manager in Software Engineering will oversee a suite of applications and supervise engineering team members within the Core Custody Institutional group. This leadership position involves close collaboration with product owners, system architects, and engineering personnel to deliver robust, cloud-native technology that aligns with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

This role involves translating strategic visions and business directives into prioritized development backlogs as well as clear technical outputs. The manager will drive an enterprise-wide perspective by coordinating across various business units to unify priorities and develop a shared project roadmap. Applying advanced technologies and engineering methodologies will be essential for maximizing operational efficiency.

Team Development and Leadership

The successful candidate will cultivate and maintain a high-achieving engineering team, focusing on mentorship and career advancement. Together with the technical lead, the manager will ensure adoption of contemporary software development best standards and practices.

Required Competencies and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related discipline is mandatory.
• Minimum of 7 years' experience in software engineering, particularly in designing scalable, robust, and secure web applications.
• At least 5 years of experience managing software engineering teams, including hiring, motivating, and retaining skilled professionals.
• Proven capability to manage associates located in various remote settings.
• Technical background encompassing both frontend and backend development.
• Familiarity with microservices architecture and deployment on cloud infrastructures.
• Hands-on experience with modern development practices such as infrastructure-as-code, automated testing, continuous integration/deployment (CI/CD), and containerization technologies.
• Demonstrated success managing delivery of mission-critical software applications.
• Strong analytical thinking, communication abilities, and organizational skills to juggle multiple priorities effectively.
• Experience engaging with stakeholders to shape business requirements and deliver superior solutions.
• Commitment to fostering engineering best practices, architectural standards, and consistency within teams.
• Outstanding mentoring and coaching capabilities, with dedication to ongoing personal and team development.

Working Model

The current work setup combines hybrid arrangements with some flexibility for remote work. However, the company is progressively moving toward a fully on-site working environment targeted for implementation around 2027 to enhance company culture and the experience of both employees and customers.
