Job Summary
The Senior Manager – Sales I is responsible for proactively seeking and managing large group and catering opportunities that carry considerable revenue potential. This role manages accounts that are not handled by an Event Booking Center and actively promotes additional sales on each opportunity to maximize earnings. The position aims to meet personal and team revenue targets and ensures the smooth handover of business for timely service delivery. Emphasis is placed on creating exceptional customer experiences that foster loyalty and support account growth.
Candidate Profile
Education and Experience Requirements
- Completion of high school or GED plus at least two years of experience in sales, marketing, guest services, front desk operations, or a related field.
- Alternatively, candidates with a 2-year degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management or related discipline are eligible even if they lack prior work experience.
Core Responsibilities
- Intensively target group/catering accounts and market segments through proactive solicitation and thorough account engagement.
- Collaborate with group/catering team members to efficiently oversee business opportunities.
- Respond promptly to incoming group/catering prospects outside established Event Booking Center parameters; handle all such opportunities if no EBC is in place.
- Identify and qualify new group/catering business to achieve individual and property revenue objectives.
- Devise and implement effective sales strategies focused on significant revenue potential accounts.
- Create, develop, and sell innovative catered event concepts, incorporating upselling of packages and food and beverage options to boost revenue.
- Analyze market conditions, competitors, and economic trends to craft competitive selling strategies and close deals through skilled negotiation.
- Maintain strong relationships and build loyalty with customers through excellent service before, during, and after each event.
- Engage in sales activities such as calls, client entertainment, familiarization trips, and participation in trade shows to expand customer base.
- Collaborate with off-property sales channels to ensure coordinated and complementary sales efforts.
- Leverage available resources including internal systems, and utilize support personnel efficiently.
- Conduct site inspections, prepare contracts, generate proposals, and manage customer communications to support business operations.
