Job description

Position Overview

The Storekeeper will be responsible for receiving and processing incoming merchandise by department, ensuring accurate placement and organization within the facility. This includes stacking goods on pallets or carts, completing inventory requisition forms, and notifying supervisors promptly regarding low stock levels.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receive deliveries and ensure proper storage, especially of perishables, while adhering to stock rotation policies.
  • Inspect goods upon arrival for freshness, quality, cleanliness, correctness, and date codes, rejecting any damaged or substandard items.
  • Maintain food safety and handling standards across all related areas.
  • Clean and sanitize refrigerators, freezers, floors, food equipment, and drains systematically.
  • Manage disposal and storage of empty pallets, cardboard, and waste materials appropriately.
  • Report any workplace accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions immediately to management and complete necessary safety training.
  • Uphold all company rules and policies, including maintaining a professional appearance and safeguarding confidential information.
  • Communicate courteously and professionally with guests and team members; foster positive team relationships to achieve collective goals.
  • Read and verify information in various formats accurately.
  • Be physically capable of standing, sitting, walking throughout a shift, and safely moving items up to 50 pounds without assistance, including navigating confined spaces, uneven surfaces, stairs, and ramps.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Educational background: High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
  • No prior work experience or supervisory experience required.
  • No specific licenses or certifications necessary.
