Job Overview

The Assistant Executive Housekeeper supports daily shift leadership for the Housekeeping department, including oversight of Recreation/Health Club and Laundry areas where applicable. This role collaborates with team members to ensure that all guestrooms, public spaces, and staff areas maintain impeccable cleanliness and upkeep. Regular inspections are conducted to guarantee standards are met while holding team members accountable for necessary improvements. The position emphasizes both guest and employee satisfaction as well as adherence to the department's operating budget.

Candidate Profile and Education

  • Possess a high school diploma or GED plus one year of relevant housekeeping or related professional experience; OR
  • Hold a two-year university degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a similar field, with no prior work experience required.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Coordinate guest room status communication with the Front Desk promptly and effectively.
  • Collaborate closely with the Engineering team to address maintenance issues in guestrooms.
  • Supervise the cleaning schedule throughout the property.
  • Manage task assignments by obtaining lists of rooms requiring immediate cleaning and upcoming check-outs or discharges.
  • Maintain inventory levels of supplies to ensure sufficient stock.
  • Assist in managing daily Housekeeping operations ensuring all policies, standards, and procedures are followed.
  • Help procure guestroom supplies, cleaning materials, and staff uniforms.
  • Support and oversee thorough inspection programs for guestrooms and public spaces.
  • Communicate areas needing attention to staff and ensure follow-up for comprehension and action.
  • Ensure all staff have the appropriate supplies, equipment, and attire for their roles.
  • Participate in monitoring and controlling departmental expenses to meet or exceed budget goals.
  • Understand how departmental operations affect the overall property financials, managing accordingly.
  • Review budgets, operating reports, and payroll progress as necessary for financial oversight.
  • Address guest complaints and respond to issues effectively to enhance service quality.
  • Promote excellent customer service among staff and emphasize ongoing service improvement.
  • Empower team members to deliver exceptional guest experiences.
  • Participate in investigations concerning staff incidents and accidents as required.
  • Monitor staffing levels to balance service delivery, operational needs, and financial objectives.
  • Ensure employees understand job expectations, company policies, and disciplinary procedures, administering these fairly and consistently.
  • Observe staff service behavior and provide constructive feedback.
  • Utilize training tools to onboard new room attendants and deliver subsequent training.
  • Engage in performance appraisal processes by providing necessary feedback.
  • Assist with interviewing and hiring personnel equipped with the right skills.
  • Support orientation initiatives to ensure new employees receive appropriate training.
  • Participate in progressive disciplinary procedures according to company guidelines.
