Senior Manager Data Governance Program

About the Role

As the Senior Manager for the Data Governance Program, you will oversee the enterprise-wide data governance initiatives. This involves leading governance steering groups, conducting training on governance procedures, recruiting and guiding data owners and stewards, and managing key data asset processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Formulate and promote a clear data governance vision, implementing corresponding procedures such as issue tracking, metadata management, and report validation.
• Assess and advise on standards, policies, and goals related to data governance throughout the organization.
• Drive changes necessary to align data processes with enterprise governance policies.
• Select and implement tools for data cataloging and dictionary creation, progressively enhancing these capabilities.
• Collaborate with vendors to identify and evaluate automation tools for data governance.
• Partner with business and analytics teams to discover ongoing data enhancement opportunities.
• Design frameworks and workflows for data governance that simplify access, discovery, and resolving data quality problems.
• Work alongside IT and business leaders to assign and support data owners and stewards for critical datasets.
• Provide mentoring and skill development for data and analytics personnel in governance practices.
• Coordinate across departments to raise data awareness and contribute to enterprise governance project development.
• Detect data processes that entail elevated risks or inefficiencies and propose optimized solutions.
• Contribute to data architecture strategies aimed at reducing data fragmentation.

Qualifications and Experience

• At least 5 years of professional experience managing extensive data governance initiatives.
• In-depth knowledge of data governance methodologies, tools, procedures, and organizational roles.
• Strong capability to collaborate with IT and business partners to implement governance frameworks.
• A genuine enthusiasm for optimizing data discoverability, comprehension, and usability.
• Sharp attention to detail with a focus on identifying and resolving data quality issues.
• Proficient in English; additional languages are advantageous.
