About IMDA and the Role

The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) is at the forefront of Singapore’s ambition to become a global leader in the Digital Economy. Our goal is to empower businesses and the workforce by leveraging digital technologies, catalyzing industry transformation. Within IMDA, the Business Technology Group (BTG) drives the integration of emerging technologies by collaborating with researchers and industry partners.

We are seeking a Senior Manager for Artificial Intelligence to accelerate Singapore’s advancement in the AI domain. This role focuses on innovating AI solutions, with an emphasis on generative AI, while ensuring the responsible development and deployment of AI technologies. The position offers an opportunity to influence AI ecosystem growth across multiple industries including legal and healthcare.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed technical assessments of leading AI technology providers, extracting insights from technical literature and becoming a trusted AI knowledge expert internally.
  • Lead initiatives to design and develop generative AI technologies, addressing both software architectures and hardware requirements, including collaboration with domain specialists to identify promising use cases and prototype development.
  • Engage in ongoing AI projects such as AI hardware benchmarking, agentic AI systems, and embodied AI research.
  • Integrate principles of AI safety and ethics into development workflows, promoting trustworthy AI applications.
  • Design and potentially oversee grant programs directed at fostering AI adoption among end-users; contribute to other grants aimed at research, commercialization, and workforce development within the AI sector.
  • Organize and support AI-focused workshops, conferences, and international study visits to stimulate knowledge sharing and community engagement.

Desired Qualifications and Skills

  • Possession of a Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related discipline; a PhD is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of fundamental and advanced concepts in generative AI and practical development methodologies.
  • Practical experience in designing, developing, and deploying AI solutions in operational environments over multiple years.
  • Expertise in embedding AI safety and trust considerations into product development processes.
  • Exposure to applying AI technologies across sectors such as legal services and healthcare.
  • Track record of collaboration with local academic institutions, research bodies, and government agencies on technology initiatives.
  • Proficiency in conducting technical due diligence and translating research findings into actionable insights.
  • Effective communication skills for conveying complex AI concepts to both technical experts and broader audiences.
  • Experience in the design or management of grant programs related to technology development is an asset.
  • Programming proficiency in AI languages such as Python and familiarity with AI development frameworks and tools.
  • Experience or interest in AI hardware benchmarking, agentic AI, or embodied AI projects is highly valued.
