Senior Linux Administrator

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Linux Administrator to oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Linux servers within both production and development settings. The role demands monitoring system performance to guarantee infrastructure reliability and availability, applying system upgrades and security measures, troubleshooting complex issues, managing user access and security protocols, and automating routine procedures through scripting.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up, configure, and sustain Linux server environments across various platforms.
• Ensure infrastructure is stable and performs optimally by proactive monitoring.
• Conduct system updates, patch management, and enhance security through hardening.
• Diagnose and resolve intricate system, network, and application problems.
• Handle user permissions and enforce security policies.
• Develop automation scripts using languages such as Bash and Python for routine task efficiency.
• Work collaboratively with DevOps, network, and security teams to improve infrastructure operations.
• Design and implement backup strategies, disaster recovery, and continuity planning.
• Document system configurations, procedures, and maintenance activities thoroughly.

Qualifications and Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related discipline is mandatory.
• Five to eight years of professional experience in Linux system administration.
• Experience with prominent Linux distributions like Red Hat, CentOS, and Ubuntu.
• Strong skills in shell scripting and proficiency with automation tools.
• Deep understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and firewall configurations.
• Hands-on experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware and KVM.
• Knowledge of cloud services like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud is advantageous.
• Familiarity with configuration management utilities like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef is preferred.
• Exceptional problem-solving abilities coupled with keen attention to detail.
• Effective communication and team collaboration skills are essential.

Preferred Credentials

• Certifications such as RHCSA or RHCE, or other equivalent credentials are highly regarded.
• Experience working in environments requiring high availability and mission-critical operations.
